Weatherford native Austin Jenkins was named vice president of A&R (artists and repertoire) for Island Records, a press release stated. Jenkins started working with Island in 2023 and helped in signing and developing artists such as Wyatt Flores and Medium Blend.

Jenkins was the founder, guitarist and songwriter for the Texas band White Denium. He co-founded recording studio Niles City Sound in 2014 in Fort Worth with Josh Block and Chris Vivion.


Leigh Anne Romer, principal at J.C. Thompson Elementary School in Fort Worth, died Sunday after a sudden medical emergency, Northwest Independent School District reported.


Concord Career Colleges and Heartland Dental announced the national recipients of the 2024 Heartland Dental Hygiene Scholarship. The North Texas-area recipients who each will receive $2,500 scholarships are Chrisondra Douglas of Dallas, Vannessa Del Torre of Dallas, Zahra Fayz of Grand Prairie and Melisa Kounas of Grand Prairie.


Karime Terrazas is the new principal of Webb Elementary School in McKinney Independent School District, the district reported. Becky Jackson is the district’s new director of data and analytics.


Dr. Charles McDaniel, a board-certified physician who treats all gastrointestinal disorders, recently joined Texas Digestive Disease Consultants in Sunnyvale. The practice’s press release stated he specializes in treating Barrett’s esophagus, liver disease and inflammatory bowel disease.
