North Point Cafe in Denton donated more than $200 in school supplies this month in support of Denton County Mental Health and Mental Retardation Center‘s school supply drive. Denton Independent School District starts classes on Aug. 7.

“As a parent, I know how expensive going back to school can be each year,” stated Ali Kohandani of Corinth, owner of both North Point and the DoubleDave’s Pizzaworks franchise in Denton, in a press release. “This is our way of making the back-to-school tradition a bit easier for a few students and their parents.”

North Point is on University Drive.

North Point Cafe is a client of Denton-based Cottage PR and Consulting. Focus on North Texas is owned by Cottage.


7-Eleven Cares Foundation, supported by Irving-based 7-Eleven Inc., announced it will serve as an official sponsor of National Night Out, an annual community campaign to promote positive police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie. The new relationship underscores the company’s commitment to fostering the relationships that make communities stronger and safe and furthers its long-standing relationship with the law enforcement community.


Athletic Republic opened a sports training facility on Neutron Road in Farmers Branch. It’s the company’s second location in Texas, a press release stated; the first Texas facility opened in 2023 in Rockwall.


Androvett Legal Media & Marketing added Ashley Smith as digital project manager. She will work in the Dallas office, a press release stated.

Androvett has offices in San Antonio, Dallas, Houston and Austin.


The second annual IT CAME FROM TEXAS Film Festival is scheduled for Sept. 13-15 at Plaza Theatre in downtown Garland. It will feature films made in Texas and will showcase Oscar winners “Tender Mercies” (1983), “The Last Picture Show” (1971) and “Giant” (1956), a press release stated.
